The Bell Museum is Minnesota's first official natural history museum, established in 1872 and held in trust by the U of M. Throughout 2022, the Bell has been celebrating its rich and varied 150-year history, marking this landmark anniversary with a variety of exhibitions showcasing what they are known for. This design of an environmental graphic that would be displayed on a wall at the museum is made to recognize and celebrate its 150th anniversary, (to be measured) at around approximately 202.5" x 122" tall, showcasing the many highlights of the museum in a dynamic and contrasting illustration.
The idea for the mural design was to showcase three of some of the Bell Museum's most well-known dioramas, the giant mammoth, wolves, and the cranes, all displayed in front of the museum itself. The sky would shift from left to right from day to night, respective of the animal's habitat while also featuring some of the Bell Museum's aspects of astronomy and space. The foreground would also have the same effect, with the crane's patchy grassfields shifting towards rocky surfaces and rivers for the wolves. Illustrations would be conducted using Procreate.
